Targeting the Position of Regional Hub for Sustainable Investment, Indonesia Hosts ISF 2025

5 months ago - Tuesday, 30 September 2025

Jakarta, August 13, 2025 – Driven by the overwhelming enthusiasm from last year’s event,

Indonesia is once again preparing to host the Indonesia International Sustainability

Forum (ISF 2025). The forum reaffirms the Indonesian government's commitment and

efforts to foster global collaboration and accelerate the transition towards a green, inclusive,

and sustainable economy. This year, ISF 2025 will be hosted by the Ministry of Investment

and Downstreaming/BKPM, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional

Development (Kemenko Infra), and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

(KADIN).

Over its first two years, ISF has provided a strategic dialogue platform for world leaders,

including Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marappe, World Bank President Ajay

Banga, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and Founder of Systemiq Jeremy

Oppenheim. With thousands of participants attending annually, ISF has cemented

Indonesia’s position as a key global player and strategic partner in green investment to

promote sustainable economic growth.

Nurul Ichwan, Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Investment,

emphasized ISF's strategic role in strengthening Indonesia’s position as a prime destination

for global investors, creating green jobs, and driving inclusive economic growth.

“The implementation of ISF aligns with the government’s goals outlined in the National

Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and Indonesia Vision 2045. This forum solidifies

Indonesia’s role as a sustainable investment hub in the region, and we aim to ensure that

every incoming investment provides not only economic returns but also value for the

environment and society,” said Nurul Ichwan.

ISF 2025 will take place on October 10–11, 2025, at the Jakarta International Convention

Center (JICC). Now in its third year, the forum will focus on ten core sustainable

development topics—ranging from food and water security, green transportation, bioenergy,

sustainable mineral downstreaming, to strengthening human capital in the era of artificial

intelligence. The agenda will feature plenary sessions, thematic dialogues, roundtable

discussions, and an exhibition of Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) from Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Rachmat Kaimuddin, Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination at

Coordinating Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, stated the

government’s readiness to accelerate the development of green infrastructure as a

foundation for the sustainable economic transition, aligning with the launch of the Indonesia

International Sustainability Forum (ISF).

“Today, Indonesia announced the launch of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum

(ISF), a flagship event for green growth with a focus on developing nations. Building on its

continuing efforts to address global issues such as the climate crisis, along with its

experience in hosting major global gatherings—including the 2018 World Bank Annual

Meetings, the 2022 G20, and the 2023 ASEAN Summit—Indonesia aims to bridge the

understanding gap between the Global North and South. ISF will bring discussions closer to

where challenges are most acute, offering solutions tailored to local realities and inspired by

Indonesia’s own journey toward a sustainable future.” said Rachmat Kaimuddin.

Under the theme “Investing for a Resilient, Sustainable, and Prosperous World”, ISF 2025

aims to bring together key actors from Indonesia and abroad. The forum will address ten key

sustainability issues—from food and water security, green transportation, and bioenergy, to

sustainable critical mineral downstreaming and developing human capital in the AI era.

Activities will be held in the form of plenaries, thematic dialogues, roundtable sessions, and

an IPRO exhibition showcasing investment-ready projects that prioritize Environmental,

Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The Vice Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin

Indonesia) for Human Development, Culture, and Sustainable Development, Shinta

Kamdani, stated “We are committed to be a strategic partner to the government in

promoting green and blue investments. With Indonesia's green investment potential

projected to exceed USD 200 billion by 2030, cross-sector collaboration is key. ISF, as a

country-led initiative, is a strategic platform to bridge business actors, investors, and

stakeholders in the realization of transformational projects, ranging from energy transition to

blue economy development. The goal of this forum is to drive economic growth, create green

jobs, strengthen regional competitiveness, and solidify Indonesia's position in the low-carbon

economic transition.”

“KADIN Indonesia is committed to being a strategic partner of the government in driving

sustainable investment to support green and blue economic development. ISF is an effective

platform to connect business players and investors, and to accelerate the realization of

projects that directly contribute to Indonesia’s development targets—such as regional

economic growth, green job creation, and strengthening Indonesia’s position as a key player

in the low-carbon economic transition.”

ISF 2025 aims to deliver tangible outcomes, including the signing of memorandums of

understanding (MoUs) between governments and businesses, launching sustainability

coalitions with actionable plans, and publishing reports that strengthen the green economy

agenda for Global South countries. The forum will also serve as a platform for over 100

national and international business actors to explore investment opportunities and cross

sector collaborations. ISF ultimately aims to strengthen Indonesia’s global standing as a

country committed to building a green economy foundation through consistent policies,

competitive incentives, and ready supporting infrastructure.

Registration for ISF 2025 opened on August 4 and will close on September 30, 2025.

innovation, and real-world implementation in the transition to sustainable development.

Since its inception, ISF has achieved several milestones. In 2023, it was launched as a country-led

initiative bringing together diverse stakeholders. Last year, ISF welcomed over 11,000 registered

participants from 53 countries, making it the second-largest climate action forum in the Asia-Pacific

after COP. It also facilitated 12 MoUs in the energy transition and decarbonization sectors, connecting
